He has had this hat from before I even met him. It has been washed, air-dryed, washed, dryed in the dryer, and shrunk a bit. It has been stepped on, rained on, even spit-up on. But it's still here!
The hat was worn for our first family pic, and Leah's first time at the zoo at the age of 9 weeks old!
(I wished she slept that well now!)
It is the perfect attire for a football Saturday
especially with a too cute cheerleader on top! (Leah ~14months)
It makes for super cute pictures of Leah and Daddy wearing hats!
Leah's 1st Birthday
It handles the lovely parenting with the grace of an orange hat
Leah ~20 months
It has protected during the super wet Fourth of July fireworks disaster
see the rain drop? (Leah ~23 months)
It is around when the wife is super pregnant and super emotional. Maybe it has the super powers of keeping his hair on his head when he gets so frustrated at pregnant emotional swings...
Leah ~26 months
It was worn to the hospital to welcome Baby Audrey into this world
The orange hat can be worn by all! It has graced Leah and Audrey's head already. It has been worn forward, backward, and has even been eaten.
When Jenny Matlock said today's color was orange I immediately thought about Andrews hat and all the pictures I have of it! It is for sure part of him, and because of that, part of our lives!

I think you have the PERFECT orange story!! That's GREAT!! Thanks so much for sharing; It was fun looking through your pics and the journey of the orange hat!! :o)
ReplyDeleteIt's been around for a lot! Do you have many pics of him without it?
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing! It's still the original hat?
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that it has survived all that .. If that hat could talk what tales it would tell huh
ReplyDeleteDusty used to have a hat like that too, until he started going bald from wearing it all the time now I can't get him to wear one.
ReplyDeleteLoved the story! Great pics of Leah when she was tiny :)
That is a great story. Maybe that hat is like Sampson's hair. I hope he never looses it!

LOVED this. I have a hat with that much history, too. In fact, wearing it right now. I've been packing for our vacation ALL day and have yet to make it to the shower, so it's keeping my bed head under wraps :-) I love it when bloggers share family photos like this, thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThe hat has sure lived a full life so far. This was a really fun post.
ReplyDeleteWell, clearly orange is special to you - or, at least and the wearer of that hat is. I don't think the hat will ever be thrown away, even when it is finally in shreds. it is too much a part of your history.
ReplyDeleteCute story.

Oh girl, don't you know we have a hat too! HAHA! Nearly every. single. picture. And I think I'd have a difficult time finding a picture where hubby's not also wearing a coordinating t-shirt, fleece, hoodie, jacket, polo, etc., etc.
ReplyDeleteHe washes his on the top rack of the dishwasher, though. I have NO clue if that's some kind of weird hat-wearers trade secret, or just a personal preference. *shrug*
Great pics! :)
P.S. Of course, if the Orange hat ever disintegrates from over use, we'll be happy to send a snappy new Crimson one your way.
My husband has many hats. At one time we had them on nails all around the spare room(years ago before children.) haha.
ReplyDeleteThat is one old-arse hat! At least you know he got his money's worth ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Rainbow Orange story you have there in that hat!

Wow. One of the best Alphabe-Thursday "Orange" links! This whole post put me in mind of a song by Mary Chapin Carpenter called "This shirt". It's way before your time but listen to it and I think you'll see what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI practically heard a folk/country song weaving through your clever words here!
These pictures just made me smile!
Thank you for linking this. It was really one of my favorites this week!
