Mommy and Audrey

Can you believe I gave Andrew the camera?  Ok, I didn't actually give it to him...he just took it for the split second I set it down, lol.  You know you wanna see more Easter pictures!
Also, go visit the other Mommy and Me peeps by clicking this button below!  This is just our way of making sure Mommy does exist in photos, lol.

Happy Easter

We had such a wonderful Easter I just have to share it with all of you here!  Andrew and I work opposite shifts so our usual interaction consists of about 5 minutes between Hi and Bye and maybe an hour before I fall asleep at night.  Its tough, and it takes a toll, but we are really just blessed to have two jobs.  Like really.  We made it through two lay-offs in 2009, and thank goodness to connections is how we keep finding jobs.

The day started off well; hectic but well.  The girls were actually really well at church, which if you have kids you know is a small miracle!  I love how all the parents with young kids sit together.  When the sermon starts you hear ziploc bags of snacks opening, books pulled out of bags and kids now consumed with coloring.  It makes me giggle.  Plus, when your kid screams out one week, no one can say anything or give you any dirty looks, because it just may be there kid acting out the next week.
The girls had matching Easter dresses.  I LOVE them!  I am so going to be that Mom who dresses kids the same and possibly one day that family who all matches in a color coordinated kind of way.  They are just too cute!
I really wanted to get a picture of the girls together...like Leah holding Audrey.  But of course I got the response..."Leah no wanna hold her."  Oh well...maybe one day, when they are like 20 they will pose together.  Leah wore her first pair of high heels!  They were so cute, and she walked so well in them...probably better than in her tennis shoes since she wants to walk on her toes all the time.
See my shoes?  Of course, when I say first pair of high heels, I really mean first pair that actually fit her feet...
Haha...look at that hair.  I just don't know what to do about it...but that's a whole 'nother post :-)

When we got home from church, we headed out to the grills to cook out, enjoy the sun and hunt for Easter eggs!
The time we could spend as a family was perfect.  The weather was perfect.  The non-traditonal meal of hot dogs, brats, chips & dip and mac & cheese was perfect.  It was really an amazing relaxing holiday.  Of course I took tons and tons of pictures, so here a few just for fun!

Mama Guilt

Today over at Cop Mama, we all gather to talk about our Mama Guilt.  You know...in case your Monday sucks, just think of a time you felt worse on your kid's behalf.  Just joking... So Cop Mama wants to know about Leah's first black-eye.  Wanna play along too?  Click the button below!  You know the guilty like to hang out in groups!

Mama Guilt Mondays

Here is Leah's first (and only) black-eye:
Poor thing fell out of the bed and landed on something.  Well, really I assume that's what happened.  All I know for sure is she went to bed without a black eye, woke up crying in the middle of the night, and had a black-eye the next morning.  Should I have kept her room cleaner...well sure.  I mean unless someone punched her in the middle of the night.
Now you may ask, when did this black-eye occur?
Did you guess the day before Audrey was born?  Because you would be correct.  So while family and friends are all coming over to visit the baby, my poor 2-year old is sitting there with a black eye.
I'm sure everyone was thinking...did they really think they can handle another one?  Since they are letting their first get black eyes and all.
And no...the child still hasn't learned how to sleep in her bed.  The covers are often found on the floor.  And yes, we are trying to get her a bigger bed, lol.
Although as funny as Leah's first black eye may seem...the worst Mama Guilt happened when Leah burned her arm on hot water I had microwaved to make hot chocolate with less than a month after this.  Read about this incident here.

I had to do two...

1. Church becomes frustrating with tired kids.

2. Lactose-sensitive formula makes throw-up disappear!

A Trip to See the Ducks

We went to see the ducks at Shakespeare Park in Montgomery, AL a couple of weeks ago.  The weather was just beautiful!
Even though Leah had a cold, she could not wait to get out of the car and into the sun!
The ducks were out enjoying the sun as well.
We went to the steps that actually enter the lake to see the ducks up close and personal.
We saw ducks swimming.
We ever learned how a duck finds his food.
Leah with the amazing Shakespeare Theatre behind her.  If you ever visit Montgomery, this park and a play is a must!  (plus my Mema works here)
The ducks decided it was time to come up on shore.  I think they were either mating or protecting their territory.  Check out the guy with the mo-hawk!
I just couldn't resist up close duck shots, even while I was wearing Audrey on my chest.
And then mo-hawk guy made this face, and I left.  More awesome pictures aren't worth being attacked by ducks.
Bye Bye ducks.  What a fun time at the park!

Worst Names

Today Confessions of a Working Mom and the (Un)Experienced Mom host their weekly Top 3 Thursday.  The theme today is your Top 3 Favorite Names.  I thought about it when I read it earlier, but decieded I didn't really have anything interesting to add to this one.  But I have been influenced.  And I'm invoking creative liberty and twisting their theme a bit (don't hate me...its funny)
Top 3 Names I Would NOT Name My Child (that are real names)

3. Bryant : Shudder.  **When it is used as Bear Bryant**  Honestly this just seems like a dog's name to me, but waaaaay to many kids are stuck with this name after the late great Coach Bear Bryant gag Even my sweet nephew has been saddled with this name, but at least its his middle name (and it's b/c of his dad...my sister-in-law's ex)

2. Tyde:  Seriously?  Its the name of detergent people, just changing a letter doesn't make it any better, and it does not show support for your team.

1. Crimson: Oh no.  This poor child is doomed.  And my co-worker told me she knew a little girl named Crimson.  How far will people take their love of a football team?

This post was inspired by this story.  The absolute worst name:  Crimson Tide Redd.  Have I mentioned I grew up in Alabama?  Go read this short little story...it will make you laugh, and you will understand a bit more of some of the people I grew up with!

Disclaimer:  No, I would not name my child War, Eagle, Aubie, Go, Tigers, Shug, Dye, Jordan ... ok I would name a child Jordan, but it would not be pronounced Jurdan

p.s. Perhaps you have to be a true bleed orange and blue Auburn fan to find this funny, but let me tell you...it has made my day.  And I know it will at least make Allyson smile!

Want some Ice Cream?

Want to vent about dieting?  Click the button!

On my huge list of suggestions to vent about, I forgot to include husbands. Especially husbands who want ice cream. This is how is went down at my house last night....

A arrives home from work tired, and plops down on the couch. (He works evenings so the kids are already in bed.) I tell him I’m going to be on the computer for this and that. He interrupts with a “Whatever.”

~10 minutes later

A: “You know what would be good right now?”
C: “No, what?”
A: “Some ice cream. Do you want some?”
C: “No, I’m trying to lose weight, remember?”
A: “Oh. But I think some ice cream would taste good.”
C: “Ok. Whatever.  I'm busy.”

~5 more minutes pass

A: “Would you go get me some ice cream?”
C: “No. I don’t want to go out right now.”
A: “But I would go out for you if you wanted some.”
C: “But I don’t want some.”
A:  "Yeah, but if you did want some then I would go get it."

A: “I wish you would get caught up with your blog. I miss sitting on the couch and watching tv shows with you. You’re always on the computer blogging now.”
C: “I told you I was going to be on the computer tonight. You said it didn’t bother you.”
---side note: we don’t have a laptop, only a desktop that is in the same room as him---
A: “It doesn’t. It would just be nice to hang out with you.”

~10 more minutes…I finish adding MckLinky

C (feeling guilty): “Do you still want some ice cream?”
A: “Yes, I would love some! And why don’t you take the dog out before you leave, since you’re going out an all.”

So, I went to the store and bought only him a small container of ice cream. And I watched him eat the whole cookies and cream pint. I really like ice cream…The things we do for permission to blog a happy husband and my sanity love.
