VBS

Have you been wondering why I haven't been posting as often ... or why my posts are so simple ... or worse, why I've been such a bad friend and haven't been to visit as often?
VBS = Vacation Bible School at church ... I'm home for maybe 10 minutes (if I'm lucky) and then we are off to VBS.  I LOVE VBS!!!!!  There are some of my favorite summer memories, and I hope one day they will be my girls wonderful medicine too!  Well today, I remembered my camera!

We went into the sanctuary before everyone came ... dinner was taking longer than usual.
When we made our way to dinner, Leah at her chicken fingers and Audrey at my cup...
and then Leah was off to VBS ... an old pro at this whole 'leaving mommy' thing ... you know she's been doing this for 3 days now, lol!

There is an adult bible study during the kid's VBS, but Audrey was a bit fussy so we went for a stroller ride around church first ... and of course since I had my camera, I just had to take some pictures of ...
flowers ... I love them!
the sun and the Tennessee mountains ... aren't they amazing!
I call this "abandoned playground"
my church ... I love the cross made from the stained glass windows
We went back to bible study and Audrey ate dinner.  People held her, but she wanted to ride again, so we went to the prayer garden
Here are some of the angels in the prayer garden
What is it about statues that makes them seem kinda creepy?
We went back inside for the closing songs
Leah was so proud of her flower bracelet
and then we went to go get Daddy ... usually we walk around Office Max for about 45 minutes, but tonight Leah was so tired she fell asleep in the 5 minute ride from church
So I took a new self portrait ... and like 200 pictures not shown here ... and now I'm going to sleep!  Night!

How to be beautiful

Leah is not the greatest when it comes to putting her hair up ...

but Grandma totally loves to put her hair up ...
and I must admit it does look pretty cute ...

so far ... so good ...

using the whole distractions idea here

uuhhh I think we hit a snag or tangle

and now it's just downhill from here

even some advice from Aunt Allison just can't stop the tears

wanna know what advice Aunt Allison had to offer?
"Leah, sometimes it hurts to be beautiful"

---if sarcasm could come through the computer ... imagine it here now---
Thanks Allison

The Bridge

Last weekend at the playground, this little girl did something that seems pretty amazing to me even in its simplicity.  Perhaps it is so amazing because of its simplicity?
We were running around and playing on the playground when Leah ended up on the other side of a shaking bridge.  The ones that are hung on by chains and sway with the wind.  Honestly, I would have stopped her if I could have.  I would have held her hand if I could've super jumped to the ground.  But there was nothing I could really do but watch in amazement, hold my breath and take pictures.

She never ceases to amaze me.  I guess this is the first of many activities that I am going to have to watch her shake just a little bit, but make it all the way to the finish!  Visit My Chaos My Bliss and Keeping up with the Shultz family for more Friday fun!

A Trip to See the Ducks

We went to see the ducks at Shakespeare Park in Montgomery, AL a couple of weeks ago.  The weather was just beautiful!
Even though Leah had a cold, she could not wait to get out of the car and into the sun!
The ducks were out enjoying the sun as well.
We went to the steps that actually enter the lake to see the ducks up close and personal.
We saw ducks swimming.
We ever learned how a duck finds his food.
Leah with the amazing Shakespeare Theatre behind her.  If you ever visit Montgomery, this park and a play is a must!  (plus my Mema works here)
The ducks decided it was time to come up on shore.  I think they were either mating or protecting their territory.  Check out the guy with the mo-hawk!
I just couldn't resist up close duck shots, even while I was wearing Audrey on my chest.
And then mo-hawk guy made this face, and I left.  More awesome pictures aren't worth being attacked by ducks.
Bye Bye ducks.  What a fun time at the park!
